Kat & Devin
I have always loved February weddings. Not only am I over the crummy Midwest weather come February, but I’m also flooded with consultations, proposals, and paperwork. While I love meeting my brides, find me a florist who got into this business for the paperwork portion! Suffice it to say, once Valentine’s Day rolls around, I’m ready for my break to be over and am itching to get back into wedding season. February weddings give me a chance to start the season early - if only for a few days. Little did I know that this would go on to be my only wedding for the first several months and that I’d be adjusting my schedule to accommodate new wedding dates later in the year. At least I got one in before quarantine - and a lovely one at that!
This couple was one of many who found themselves displaced by the fire at the Allure on the Lake last year. They initially wanted an out of town wedding, but ended up with a venue closer to home. The Brix on the Fox in Carpentersville, IL was a gorgeous venue. The exposed brick throughout the building went so well with the simplistic greenery aesthetic that Kat wanted.
Traveling to a location 90 miles away in February isn’t ideal. I was a nervous wreck all week watching the forecast. As luck would have it, Mother Nature came through with a snowstorm on Kat and Devin’s wedding day. But I can’t complain too much, can I? After all, I myself had a winter wedding with hopes of snowfall. A snowy landscape is one of my absolute favorite backdrops for wedding photos. Katherine Murray Photography never disappoints, and my white knuckle drive was well worth it! I love how these bouquet colors pop.
Congrats to Kat and Devin on your marriage. I am so glad I was able to be a part of it.
